This downtown luxury condominium, situated in a park and on a river, is in perfect harmony with the picturesque neighborhood. Indeed, One Rector Park integrates the beauty of the outdoors into its innovative interior design. Home owners can choose from either a “River” or “Park” style for their decor.

A “Park” kitchen offers polished marble counters and backsplash in a delectable caramel brown. The custom hardwood cabinetry is in a refreshing white oak with a green tea stain. A “Park” bath has Shaker-style cabinetry in a similar stain as well as more polished marble. The wall and bath surround are created from magnificent Mont Blanc polished marble.

The vanity counter top, wall insert, and floor base moulding show the splendor of Calacatta Gold polished marble. A “River” kitchen is equally as luxurious with the counter and backsplash in Daino Reale polished marble from Italy. The hardwood cabinetry features cool white oak with a rich chocolate brown stain. “River” baths have floors and vanity tops in Dark Emperador polished marble from Spain. The wall and bath surround are in St. Remy limestone from Turkey. The bath vanity luxuriates in white oak and a chocolate stain.

All kitchens have a Liebherr stainless steel refrigerator as well as a Bosch gas cook top, oven, and microwave. The kitchens also feature a Fisher & Paykel two drawer dishwasher. The bathrooms offer Waterworks fixtures, Neptune soaking tubs, and Kohler sinks. Powder rooms use Lavaca sinks. Both kitchens and bathrooms have built-in speakers for the wall-mounted iPOD docking station.

The Riverhouse

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

277_e.jpgThose who like the idea of “going green” but don’t want to give up the amenities of a luxury condominium will love Riverhouse. Its environmental features are extensive: Air going into the units is filtered twice; humidity control helps those with asthma or allergies make it through the seasonal changes. An on-site water filtration system guarantees the freshest water. The designers of Riverhouse also thought about the dangers of certain kinds of adhesives and other dangerous chemicals that inadvertently reach us. They used only renewable materials and low pollutant-emitting paints and sealants. Finally, designers here have decided to work alongside nature, instead of against it. Solar energy panels ‘crown’ the building, capturing the sun’s energy throughout the day. Planted roofs take advantage of the rain cycle, recycling rainfall for irrigation.

While helping the environment is great, a luxury development can’t claim “luxury” without a plentitude of amenities. There are places to sit and relax (the communal terrace and the media room), places to play (the children’s playroom for the kiddies and a billiard room for big kids) and places to test your stamina (the luxurious lap pool and the state-of-the-art fitness center). Pet owners are welcomed with open arms, especially at the in-building dog spa. And a parking garage for residents provides convenience. A Treehouse Getaway rounds out the offerings. This enigmatic area seems to be a place for all ages to enjoy the joys of the outdoors in an indoor setting. It includes a lawn and hanging chairs.

Residents can thank Ismael Leyva Architects and David Rockwell for Riverhouse’s overall design features. Large windows allow beautiful views of the Hudson throughout many of the units. A hideaway kitchen does well to integrate the room with the rest of the open floor design. Of course, each unit uses Energy Star appliances, including Miele dishwashers and a washer/dryer combination. Like almost all luxury developments now, Riverhouse has quality wood floors throughout.

Riverhouse is located in Tribeca, just outside the perimeter of Rockefeller Park and across from the Irish Memorial. There is no shortage of green space around, as a simple walk leads to no fewer than four different recreational areas. Residents can learn to play Chess, listen to stories, participate in a square dance, or tour Battery Park City’s public art collection. A myriad of eateries and shopping locales ups the ante and makes for a very busy weekend. For booklovers who don’t want to leave home, there’s a branch of The New York Public Library on the bottom floor, along with an organic bakery.

As of October 2008, there are still many units available in the 32-story building. Most of the units are 1, 2, and three bedrooms, although there is one four bedroom apartment. There are also two duplex units available. The apartments are generally spacious, with the smallest unit just over 1,000 square feet in area. Other units range from 1,092-2,156 square feet. Prices average $1,350/square foot. The highest-priced unit lists for $5.9 million. Riverhouse is being marketed by Corcoran and The Sunshine Group.

225 Rector

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Imagine looking out your window and seeing the symbol of American freedom on a daily basis. How about Ellis Island, the Staten Island Ferry? At 225 Rector Place, residents always have something to do when they’re feeling active,
and something to look at on those lazy days. There are 24 stories of views at 225 Rector, and each one is unique.

Just like the rest of the building, each room has its own unique feel. While the lobby feels like an upscale bank lobby with its double-height ceiling, limestone floors and 12-foot bronze-framed door, the lounge is more like the Rec. room
on the star ship enterprise. Large widows overlook Rector Park, and each piece of furniture has a crisp and futuristic appearance. Residents can relax here, or catch a movie in the custom designed screening room.

The Rector lobby is manned twenty-four hours a day, and that is good, since there is so much to do around the area that residents come and go all night. Around town, residents can catch city concerts at Battery Park, or take their dogs for a good jog at the dog run.

There is a community ball field, and a 1.2-mile esplanade. Tons of restaurants surround 225 Rector, whether residents are looking for family places to eat, or a night on the town. And if they don’t feel like eating out, there is no worrying about going to the store down the road for food. Right off of the lobby is a cold storage area for delivered groceries.

The current social trend is all about keeping in shape. 225 Rector has a 3000 square foot bi-level gym, circuit training, oversized windows to enjoy the view, and flat screen televisions to catch Oprah while exercising. And with a 4000 square-foot sky-lit pool, as well as a sauna and spa, residents will never want to get out of the water. Of
course, with a roof terrace sporting a view of the Statue of Liberty, they may reach a compromise and sit in the enclosed lounge to dry off, maybe fix a snack in the fully equipped kitchen area.

When it is time to go home, there is a lot to go home to. Each condominium is airy and pristine. The living rooms offer expansive windows and fumed oak floors. And if residents haven’t had enough of the water, they can lounge in their own deep soaking tub

The Visionaire

Saturday, March 31st, 2007
The Visionaire is certainly a trend-setter on a national level. This
is one of New York’s first all green buildings- a huge leap forward
for city dwellers. The building entices the eye with a curved curtain wall of horizontal bands of terra cotta panels and glass casement windows designed by Rafael Pelli. A computerized 24-hour air supply monitoring system keeps the building’s supply of fresh,
clean air available at all times. All faucets are designed to filter
each ounce of water that passes through, and there is even an
in-building wastewater treatment system that re-supplies toilets
and central air-conditioning makeup water, conserving water use
for environmentally responsible living. You can enjoy the green
-designed roof garden that harvests rainwater to reduce runoff.
Eco-friendly paints, sealants, and adhesives that emit low or
very little volatile organic compounds (VOC) have been used to increase the interior air quality.

Each residence features sustainably harvested wood floors and an open kitchen finished with natural materials. The master baths are highlighted by teak cabinetry, limestone flooring, impressive fixtures, and glass tile mosaics. If all that is not impressive enough, views from this Battery Park building are of the Hudson River Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the downtown Manhattan. Studio, one, two, and three bedroom units are available.
