West Chelsea has always been known as New York’s contemporary art spot. Now
there is a new spot for art-lovers to see. The 11-story luxury condominiums at 520 West 19th Street are located just between New High Line Park and the waterfront Hudson River Park. Residences range between 2-5 bedrooms, with the more popular two and three bedrooms boasting 1460-2090 square feet.
The area used to be industrial, but has changed into a very popular night area, a restaurant row along 10th avenue offering plenty of eating opportunities for the casual restaurant fan.
Chelsea market, a city block long, offers other shopping and dining experiences,
all a walk away from home. The first thing visitors will be blown away by is the lobby, which offers terracotta clad columns, marble and granite details around the lobby, as well as storage units on the lower level. The lobby is always a good place to find information, for it is manned
twenty-four hours a day. |
From outside, 520 W.19th Street brings a splash of color to the artistic district of Manhattan with its midnight blue terracotta facade; giving away its contemporary feel is the curving designs of the buildings overhangs. Floor
to ceiling glass brings light in and a touch of flair. The living rooms offer privacy and space with plenty of light to contrast 5″ black oak wood floors. The kitchens are decked out with designer stainless steel appliances, and each unit comes with an Axxis/Nexxt washer and dryer. Finally, the bathroom brings it all together with marble or trartine vanities, tub walls and decks, and custom designed medicine cabinets.
This area of Manhattan doesn’t see much foot traffic, but that might be because there is so much construction going on…construction has begun for a 1.5 mile park which is scheduled for completion in 2008, and plans are underway for a seven acre planted promenade, which will connect Gansweoort Market historic district, West Chelsea and Hudson yards. The area already has a park, seasonal stage, fireworks, public preserve and a beautiful grassland preserve. The Hudson River gives residents more opportunities to enjoy their days off, with access to a beach and a small boating facility, as well as a ballfield. Chelsea piers is next, and it is geared for the sports enthusiast with a sports center and a 30 acre sports complex.

The luxury condominium homes located at 130 West 19th Street are the work of architect Andy Gerner. With just 64 units, this building is of moderate size, but certainly does not skimp on high end features and amenities that include a residents’ screening room, private storage, 24 hour concierge, and even landscaped backyard gardens. The landscaped roof deck features an elevated grass lawn for lounging, cabanas, an outdoor fireplace, and fantastic sunset views. The unit floor plans are extremely flexible, allowing for the relatively open space to be converted into extra bedrooms, nurseries, offices, or whatever your heart may desire.
Floor to ceiling windows in each unit give an open, airy feeling. T-1 internet connectivity will be standard in each home, as well as washers and dryers, and solid core doors. Kitchens have two counters, the upper being made of granite and the lower consisting of quartz. The lower counter is a unique feature that serves as a dining bar- perfect for informal meals. Each kitchen also comes with stainless steel undermounted sinks, complete with hot water dispensers and garbage disposals. Floors are mahogany wood throughout. Bathrooms feature polished white marble counters and tub decks, large rectangular San Agostino wall and floor tile, and separate frameless glass shower stalls. 1 bedrooms (convertible into 2), 2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms, and townhouse units are available.
